Ditsobotla’s top-performing matriculants of 2025 received brand-new laptops sponsored by NWK, paving the way for their tertiary studies. They were honoured during a prestigious function at Hoërskool Lichtenburg on Friday, hosted by the North West Department of Education.

Ditsobotla is situated in the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality in the North West and is home to towns like Lichtenburg, Coligny and Itsoseng. There are 21 secondary schools in the sub-district and NWK has been undertaking this project to assist these schools’ top-performing matriculants since 2013/2014. The value of this year’s donation amounts to more than R300 000.

In addition, NWK sponsored the framing of certificates that were handed out on Friday to the
value of more than R15 000.

Speaking at Friday’s function, NWK’s director of Economic Development, Benedict Modise, said that for many decades the company has been playing a vital role in advancing agricultural development, job creation and economic growth in the North West.

NWK’s director of Economic Development, Benedict Modise, addresses the matriculants of 2025.

“We believe that the success of the company is inseparable from the success of the communities we serve. By rewarding the top learner from each school with a brand-new laptop and software, we aim to contribute in a practical way to the future of our young people. Digital skills are not just an advantage in today’s world – they are a necessity.”

He encouraged the former matriculants to consider NWK as a future employer of choice where they could grow, contribute and thrive. “NWK is more than just a company, it is a community that values excellence, innovation and integrity.”

Achievers say thank you

Ofentse Nthite completed matric at JM Lekgetha Commercial School and obtained five distinctions. He hopes to work as a chartered accountant one day. “This brand-new laptop means a lot as I wouldn’t have been able to afford one on my own.”
Ofentse Awal from Kopanelo Combined School obtained three distinctions and dreams of working as a nurse. “The laptop will greatly aid my studies. I am very grateful!”
Sebongile Khutledi of Lichtenburg English Secondary School obtained four distinctions and is interested in a career in politics and economics. “I am very grateful for the laptop donated by NWK. I can now use the money I would have had to spend on a laptop, for something else.”
